Brian commissioned through ROTC at Virginia Military Institute in 1990 as a Field Artillery Officer. He has served in numerous Field Artillery and HQDA level staff assignments throughout his 30 years of Army service. His military career started on active duty at Ft. Bragg, NC with the 5-8th FAR as a Battery FDO, RSO, Plt Ldr, and Bn LNO from 1991-1994. From 1995-2001 he served part time in the VaARNG with 2-111 FA Bn as a Co FSO, PLt Ldr, Bn FDO, RSO, Ast. S-3, and subsequently commanded two batteries (C/2/111 FA Bn and HHB 54^th FA Bde. In 2001, he entered the Active-Duty Guard & Reserve (AGR) program (Title 32) as a Recruiting & Retention District OIC. In 2004, he transitioned to (Title 10) AGR and was assigned to the National Guard Bureau (NGB) in Arlington, VA. While at NGB, he served as a Field Artillery Systems Integrator, HR Assignments Officer, Officer Policy Section Chief, HR Systems Transformation Branch Chief, and Chief, Personnel Policy and Domestic Operations (J-1). He commanded the Warrior Transition Battalion (WTB) at Ft. Gordon, GA from 2011-2013. He was then a Senior Official Investigator with HQDA IG from 2014-2017 at the Pentagon. In 2017, he transitioned to Title 10 COADOS as Chief, Policy Oversight & Compliance Division with DCS Warrior Care and Transition until his retirement in 2020 as a Colonel. Furthermore, he has deployed twice in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm and Operation Enduring Freedom. Brian also received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics degree from Virginia Military Institute and a Master of Business Administration degree from Averette University. He joined VFW Post 2239 in 2024 as a Life Member and was a Trustee before becoming the Quartermaster in 2025.
